The Challenge

The Alamo Area Resource Center (AARC) puts on an annual pride event that brings the San Antonio community together for Giddy Up, a Pride-themed pool party celebrating joy, connection, and LGBTQ+ community while encouraging the community to know their status and get tested.

The challenge was creating a cohesive brand that balanced playful western themes with modern Pride culture while remaining approachable, inclusive, and unmistakably fun. Every touchpoint needed to work together to build anticipation before the event and create memorable moments once guests arrived.

The Strategy

Rather than treating Giddy Up as a one-day event, we approached it as a brand.

The creative direction centered around a colorful western-inspired visual identity that celebrated self-expression, summer, and Pride. From social media promotions to on-site experiences, every asset was designed to feel like part of the same world.

The goal was not only to get people to come to the event but to create an event people wanted to share and return to every single year.

The Visual Identity

The identity combined classic western motifs with a vibrant modern color palette, playful typography, and bold graphic elements.

The result felt energetic, playful, and unmistakably summer. It captured the carefree atmosphere of a pool party while reinforcing AARC's welcoming community.

Every design decision was made to be highly recognizable across digital and physical environments.

We built an entire event system that could adapt across every touchpoint. The Brand Identity came to life through event merchandise, environmental signage, branded activation, social media content, and digital marketing.

The Brand Eco-system

The Outcome

The event transformed a pride pool party into a party for a cause moment that became recognizable as uniquely AARC and shareable across social platforms.

Reflection

AARC came to Layton Creative requesting a flyer for the event and we created an entire brand system. By treating the event like a living brand rather than a single campaign, every interaction felt intentional, helping strengthen AARC's mission while creating a celebration the community was excited to be part of. It became an experience that people could wear, photograph, and share.
